Excel Hustler Turf manufactures turf equipment in Hesston, Kansas. They began the zero-turning-radius (ZTR) mower phenomenon in the lawn and garden industry in 1964. As one of the leading manufacturers of lawn care equipment on the market, they continue to provide new and innovative products for commercial, residential and  industrial lawns.

THE CHALLENGE
Hustler Turf Care wanted to simplify their safety interlock system, replacing unnecessary wires and components with an electronic diesel control module. The module would perform engine shutoff and interlock logic for their commercial and golf green product lines. Hustler asked Delta to collaborate on a design that would provide a multitude of enhanced safety features and reduce wiring production costs. They wanted a rugged, sealed solution that would be consistently reliable in the harsh outdoor environment where their products operate.

THE SOLUTION
Delta worked with Hustler to design a robust module that would provide safety and fuel efficiency while ensuring the glow plug within the mower would not overheat during operation. The diesel module provides PTO, starter, fuel solenoid and magneto/glow plug control. Microcontroller logic maximizes equipment protection and keeps the operator free from harm. The end result is an efficient, safe and cost-effective product. Delta helped to enhance Hustler's product and assist them in their commitment to innovation.
